Curriculum

Here in Kesh Primary School and Community Nursery we utilise the following:

 

Pre-School: Nursery
The Foundation Stage: Years 1 and 2  

Key Stage 1: Years 3 and 4
Key Stage 2: Years 5, 6 and 7

 

The curriculum within the above Primary stages of learning is set out in Six Areas of Learning.  Although there are 6 identified areas, teachers will teach making connections between the areas, also encorporating Using Information and Communications Technology (UICT), Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities (TSPC) and Cross Curricular Skills plus Assessment For Learning.
The Six Areas of Learning are:
1 Language and Literacy (including talking and listening, reading and writing)
2 Mathematics and Numeracy (development of mathematical concepts and numeracy across the curriculum);
3 The Arts (Art and Design, Drama and Music);
4 The World Around Us (knowledge, skills and understanding in Geography, History and Science and Technology);
5 Personal Development and Mutual Understanding (emotional development, social skills, knowing how to learn, health, relationships and an understanding in the  local and world-wide community);
6 Physical Education (knowledge, skills and understanding through play and a range of physical activities)
