Kesh PS Invitational Cup

πŸ‰ Kesh PS Invitational Cup πŸ‰

Today our school held the annual ‘Kesh PS Invitational Cup’. After a very successful girls’ football competition last year, won by Lisbellaw PS, it was decided that this year the focus would be on rugby with the tournament consisting of a mixed touch-rugby competition for both boys and girls.

With the competition this year being hosted at Enniskillen Royal Grammar School’s rugby pitches, we welcomed 5 schools: Enniskillen Integrated PS, Enniskillen Model PS, Jones Memorial PS, Lisbellaw PS and Moat PS, Lisnaskea. We also entered 2 teams of our own with our A team consisting of our Year 7 pupils and our B team made up of our Year 6 pupils.

The standard of rugby on show was very high from all schools present and all of the pupils showed super determination, teamwork and skill throughout.

The children in each team competed in 9 matches in total and had a fantastic time as you can see. Rugby is such a wonderful team sport and all the staff Mr Johnston, Mrs Rooke, Mrs Sharkey and I were immensely proud of both our teams. The effort and attitude was evident throughout. The children showed great resilience and stuck to their tasks well. They were pretty effective with the ball in hand too as you’ll see from our wide array of try scorers below.

Special mention to Oscar, captaining our squad today. He used his voice to great effect as he led our charges. Also to Jack McG who finished the day as top try scorer, quite remarkable that he had the energy left after all his tackling!

Our try scorers on the day were

It’s a day that will be long remembered and hopefully we will continue to see our rugby involvement continue to go from strength to strength.

Congratulations to our very own ‘Kesh PS A’ team who eventually came out as victors in the end, beating Enniskillen Model by a single try in a gripping final that went into extra time. The subsidiary shield final also went to extra time with Jones Memorial narrowly overcoming a strong Enniskillen Integrated side.

A big thank you to all the schools who came and supported the event, we really hope you enjoyed your morning of rugby fun.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to Enniskillen Royal Grammar School who were fantastic hosts and helped organise the tournament with a number of their pupils helping to referee the games.

We hope we can welcome everyone back again next year for more sporting fun.
